When BBI was established in 1989, not many institutions were in the service of training students for the purpose of effective ministry. Today the situation is different. There are a plethora of schools and colleges that offers theological education with various degrees. But BBI always stands out in the matter of theological education because of its conservative doctrinal stand and mission focus. In selecting a college to attend, how does BBI present itself as a big choice for candidates? What does a student who wish to pursue his theological education gain after attending BBI? Though there are many benefits, I would like to highlight only the three most important things here.

Systematic Study of the Scripture

The Bible is at the centre of one’s studies at BBI. Along with other studies, every student in the Graduate program and Post-Graduate program has a major in Biblical studies. Courses are designed to help students learn how to study and interpret the Bible, acquire an overview of the Bible, and receive some detailed exposition of the major books of the Bible. Other than this, students study the Bible topically where they are taught the great systematic truths of Scripture. The courses offered by BBI will help the students to understand what they believe and why they believe these things.  Many Christians know what they believe. They believe the Bible is God’s Word, God is a Trinity, Jesus is God, Salvation is only through Christ, etc. But only few Christians know the reason behind such beliefs. Systematic study of the Bible is the only way that helps a person to have proper theological convictions. Doctrinal studies in BBI helps its students to have their own convictions based on the Word of God and learn to discern between truth and falsehood.

Ministry Training

BBI provides a wide variety of ministry opportunities in and through various local assemblies and also through different programs organized by the mission department. Preaching, teaching, Sunday school, house visitation, open air gospel preaching, cross-cultural evangelism, church planting, and music ministries are few examples of the different service opportunities available for the students. These opportunities provide necessary ministry experiences that helps the student improve and become more effective. BBI also provides specialized ministry training through programs such as Christian Education for the local church, Evangelism, Missions, Youth Ministry, etc. These various ministry programs are taught by people who have both academic credentials and a vast experience in such ministries. And students culminate their college training with a passion for ministry, working under the guidance of Christian leaders who helps them develop their skills in serving the Lord.

Personal Character Development

            As a result of studying in BBI, there should be personal improvement in character qualities. BBI is a place to think through one’s values, priorities, and attitudes and see how they measure up to the standard of God. Staying in the Bible College campus provides an atmosphere which emphasizes godliness, dependence upon God, and obedience to the Word of God. Spiritual emphasis is noticed in chapel services, class room instruction, daily devotions, special conferences and even during their leisure times. Those having studied at BBI have distinct advantages in their preparation for life and ministry.

            Though there are lot of challenges, BBI strives its best to provide quality theological education to its students without making a compromise in the matter of doctrine and discipline. This ministry requires your prayer and support to maintain the standard which the founders of this institution has envisioned.
